The Seal’s Win

Accepting the award, Mary Seawell, Founder and CEO of Lyra, who, alongside Colorado State Senator Chris Hansen and Colorado State Representative Barbara McLachlan, supported the development and passage of the Seal of Climate Literacy, emphasized how the Seal empowers students and communities to take meaningful climate action, regardless of their background or where they live. The Seal of Climate Literacy was born from a need—a need to recognize and support communities across Colorado in their efforts to provide climate education, promote action, and ensure students have access to the resources necessary to achieve climate literacy.

Each year the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE) recognizes and honors individuals, organizations, and schools from around the state of Colorado for their innovation and dedication to moving the field of environmental and outdoor learning forward. We received the award of the Advancing Environmental Literacy Award next to Jefferson County’s Outdoor Education Laboratory Schools initiative.

Looking Forward

As we celebrate this significant achievement, we recognize that the journey is far from over. The work continues, and the Seal of Climate Literacy remains dedicated to supporting educators and advancing climate literacy across Colorado’s diverse regions. Thank you to the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE) for this incredible honor, and a heartfelt thank you to the educators, students, and community partners. This award is a testament to your dedication and hard work as we collectively advance environmental education throughout Colorado.
